How Does Mentoring Work for You?

Mentoring has been demonstrated to provide more effective results compared to other recovery programs.   One way to better understand the differences between Mentoring and traditional therapy is to consider the roles of a Travel Agent to a Tour Guide.

The Travel Agent – Sits behind a desk and makes recommendations, shares pictures and brochures, makes reservations, and assists in getting you to your destination.

The Tour Guide – Meets you at your destination, willing to walk with you through the easy and hard parts of the journey, and shares their experiences with you along the way. They have been on the journey before and are willing to share their experiences with you.

They both serve a purpose. They both add value. They both help you get to your destination . . . but only one takes the journey with you.

Advantages to a Mentoring Program

  • RESULTS:  Perhaps the primary advantage of a mentor-based recovery program is that it works.   The most important tool to recovery isn't experience - but rather the experience of another who walks this journey with you.

  • TOTAL CONFIDENTIALITY:  One of the biggest hurdles to recovery from sex and porn addiction, is the stigma and shame attached to it.   Each mentee is provided with a private account for recovery work.

  • COST-EFFECTIVE:   Due to its low cost, mentoring allows for meetings and the discipline of recovery work each week.

  • CONVENIENT:  All sessions are conducted via ZOOM with recovery work interaction through a private Redemption Road Mentoring system account.

What You Get

Sex and Porn addiction programs tend to focus on the Struggler.  For the betrayed survivor, anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger and trigger post-traumatic events. Together, we can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

  1. Over 40 million Americans are regular visitors to porn sites. The porn industry’s annual revenue is more than the NFL, NBA and MLB combined. It is also more than the combined revenues of ABC, CBS and NBC.

  2. 47% of families in the United States reported that pornography is a problem in their home. Pornography use increases the marital infidelity rate by more than 300%

  3. 56% of American divorces involve one having an “obsessive interest” (read addiction) in pornographic websites.

  4. 68% of church-going men and over 50% of pastors view porn on a regular basis. Of young Christian adults 18-24 years old, 76% actively search for porn.

  5. 59% of pastors said that married men seek their help for porn use.

  6. 57% of pastors say porn addiction is the most damaging issue in their congregation.

  7. 93% of pastors see porn as an increasing problem in the church, but only 7% have any plan to deal with it!

The Role of the Church Addressing Porn

Pornography and the church can be a difficult and awkward discussion.    And with the example above, not one that most look forward to.   One of the core missions of Redemption Road is to partner with small to mid-sized congregations that have limited resources, helping them eliminate the need to reinvent programs on their own.
